I'm a little bummed that I didn't get to record as much today. Doug was showing us how to use elastic audio when working with synthesis so I only got to squeeze in a little bit of edits. 

However, dinner was fun! Went to a chinese place down in lower buckeye and on the way I snapped some sweeeet pics of the sunset! I was dying, it was soo beautiful, I can't even describe.

Though it looks pinkish/salmon colored here, the real thing was fuschia colored. So intense!

Edit. (Day 28)

Had Protools class again today! I started a new editing project where I take one of Bush's old presidential adresses and edit it to make new words and make it sound like he's saying stuff he never said...hehehe. ^.~

Also got some experience with Time Comepression Expansion and Pitch Shifting. I made Aerosmith sound like chipmunks it was great.

Got some compliments on my hat today! always nice, I like this hat too, people. :)

By the way, today I ordered my ticket for the Take Action tour next month! so pumped to be seeing all the bands, especially There For Tomorrow! bam bam turkey and ham! peace.

"Record Enabled" (Day 27)

Started recording today! I was messing around with some different sounds and finally came up with a solid start. While I started to track, I also started editing some of the notes where I came in kinda early (that's the beauty of MIDI, you can adjust) and scooted notes here and there. After a while I played what I had and realized it's only about 20 measures total so far haha. so much to go! but I'm excited to get back to work on it Friday. :)

Happy To You! (Day 26)

Hey!
Had Protools class today and was almost tardy this morning since I woke up late and had to put gas in my car before class. I got to campus 10 minutes before class but spent about 8 of those minutes looking for a parking space -.-

Finally got a spot that seemed as far away as possibly possible. When I got into the room at 9:02ish there was about 4 people there and Dave wasn't even in yet so I wasn't considered tardy lol. Good thing too. Did some more review and worked on a little editing assignment that I didn't find difficult at all. :)

Also picked up Ash from school and chilled out her house for a while watching CSI then picked up the little sis from school.

Today's my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Papi! spent it at home and had dinner there. :) I'm so thankful for him cause if he weren't my dad I may not be the person I am today! :O crazy thought to think. I'm proud to be his daughter though :) go musicians!

Speaking of which, gonna record tomorrow! :D

Heeadstrong. (Day 25)

I had Electronic music class today! Started to re-familiarize myself with Logic Pro again and tried to get the creative juices flowing! I'm so excited to be recording and hope I produce something that not only will I enjoy and be proud of, but that you'll appreciate as well. :)

After class I came home, made myself lunch and attended a public hearing at my old elementary school where my sister is now attending her 2nd to last year there. The turnout was insane! there were so many people all huddled in the gym/auditorium and we all voiced our concerns regarding the school potentially closing down. D:

There's another meeting in a few weeks so let's hope it stays open!

Hola!

I don't have much time to write tonight, vicky is rushing me to get off this thing so she can use it...ay.

Anyway, my day in a nutshell:

1. Cleaned

2. Fixed up my car with my dad.

3.Did laundry

4. Ate ravenously.

5. Transferred most of my music from the old lap top to this one and decided which to keep on my usb flash drives since they're getting full and to serve as back up should this computer fail at any time (let's pray it doesn't!)

6. Decided I need to get some more usbs just in case!

Reminisce. (Day 23)

Took a walk down memory lane earlier. I took out my old video camera, dusted it off and brought the tapes out of the vault to watch haha. It was really entertaining and weird to see how much I've grown, or how much my whole world has grown for that matter! My little sis was so young, about 8 or 9 and I was 16 or 17, pretty crazy! When I first heard vicky talk on the video, I thought she had inhaled helium! her voice sounded so little haha.

I cleaned my room a little and did laundry today as well. The weather wasn't bad today but it was cold! I didn't mind it though.
It was pretty chill over all and I have a feeling tomorrow will kinda be the same lol. I am excited to go to class on monday though! gonna start recording my new experimental project! ;)

Ionization (Day 22)

It's Friday! 

Such a nice day. Despite the cold wind, it was lovely! I couldn't stop looking at the clouds and took a bunch of photos of the sky. 

I had Electronic music class today and we listened to a few interesting songs, wrote some notes about it and discussed what we noticed in them. It was pretty cool, and before we finished, Doug gave us our first assignment! I get to make a composition of ANYTHING I want :D

So excited, I need to think of what I'm going to record! Definitely planning on getting experimental and when it's done, I'll see if I can upload it and post a link so you can hear it!

This is what I'll be spending most of my time on these next few weeks.

 

After class I spent about an hour talking to some of the guys again and had a pretty long discussion about recording, and music in general. It's awesome when you can have a convo with people who get you, cause then you don't feel like a crazy person! haha...maybe we're all insane. They also understood why it's so hard to describe our musical style to someone who'll potentially check out our songs cause we don't create just one type of music, you know? Good thing I'm young because I'm still finding my sound and need all the time I can get! yeah.

After that I went with my mom to visit my aunt at the hospital and she's doing much better! so glad. We made a quick stop at Starbucks, I dropped her off at work and went home. Again, I loved the sky today

By the by, (and I think this is pretty funny in a way) I tweeted There For Tomorrow singer Maika this morning about Protools software and got a reply back which is pretty cool, and although I met him once at a show last october, I didn't realize until it was brought to my attention 2 months later that he'd favorited one of my tweets to him about Logic long before I saw the band live for the 1st time. 

(here's the funny part) Anyway, the fact that he responded today made me laugh a bit cause now I feel like I have some sort of secret identity baha. I'm probably just being nerdy but it's funny that we've met already, yet unbeknownst to him, Angela and RockinxthexMelody are one and the same.

Ahoy! Ahoy Lads! (Day 21)

Ello mi hearties! It's your captain speaking! reporting from The S.S. Melody!

haha, man this rain is insane!! It hasn't stopped all day and we're expecting some major storms these next few days.

Went to class this morning and reviewed some more of last spring's protools info. I'm still solid on a lot of it! yusss. Spent some time talking to the guys afterwards, discussing tour line ups for shows this year and then I left before it started to pour again!

One more class tomorrow and then I can consider it the weekend! :) Here's a pic of the drive home.

I started a new song today and got the chorus and a 1/4 of the second verse down, but got stuck so I'll continue later. Speaking of songs...I'll be in the studio over the next several weeks and I'll be recording so I needed some opinions! I have a few things I'm already thinking of recording, but wanted to ask you guys if there's anything YOU want to hear! I'm open to suggestions and I might even get experimental and combine two styles so don't be afraid to give your input! I'd like to get a solid idea for my first project by this weekend, but I'll be compiling a list for as long as I'm in the studio. Let me know :)

School Is SO Not A Drag...yet! haha (Day 20)

I had my second class today and it was super short! lol, it's normally a 50-minute class but today we only met for about 35 minutes. I'm excited for friday though, Doug said we'll be doing a new activity this semester where we have "Listening Journals" and will be listening to different genres of music and write about that particular song and what we'd like to learn about it as far as production goes. It's awesome cause I already kind of do that for fun! :) (nerd alert)

I had my hair straightened today and despite the humid whether it turned out well. :) Speaking of which, I still need to buy a freakin flat iron.

That's all for today, I've got perussion ensemble this evening, but we'll just be meeting for about an hour. Hope the rain doesn't pour down when I have to go, I'm crossing my fingers it won't.

And So It Begins!...again. (Day 19)

First day of school was today! I only had one class and it was short, but nice! It's advanced Protools class to put it plainly, but it's not difficult at all! well, yet, anyway haha. I met up with the guys from last semester and it made the class more comfortable since it was a friendly environment, plus I already know the teacher since I had him for Studio Recording 2 last spring so that's cool. We reviewed some stuff from last spring and I surprisingly knew just about everything we covered! ..minus how many inputs and outputs the Digi002 has. lol. Tomorrow I've got Electronic Music 2 with Doug and I'm so excited to start recording my stuff again!

I also went to the post office today and mailed out Roxy birthday gifts! so excited for her to get them.

And what about this weather, guys? It's supposed to rain 5 days out of the week! we don't even get that much during Monsoon Season anymore! insanity. Tonight's storm was unstoppable, it poured for a long time before the rain let up, and thundered while I was trying to write a song, but I couldn't manage to get anything more than a line. I'll try again tomorrow. :)

"I Have A Dream" (Day 18)--------Delayed.

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and since I had the day off, I figured I'd spend it doing nothing lol. I don't know why I felt so lazy today but I did and the weather didn't help! haha it was drizzly all afternoon and there wasn't much to do but stay inside. I got bored and had some fun with the 3d glasses and took this picture lol.


In other news, school tomorrow! :D

110% (Day 17)

Feeling so much better today! Of course I'm still blowing my nose non-stop, but better out than in, right? As long as I'm better by tuesday, I guess I can handle using a ton of tissue paper.

I did laundry today dropped off the Polysics flyer/poster I found on the wall downtown lol! It was in good condition though! she really liked it so that's good. I also watched Good Burger and baked cookies! I used the dough Carla and Ruben gave us for christmas. :)

I do have some bad news though. Remember the little chickens I talked about the other day? well one of them died :( I tried to save it but I was too late. A stray dog got a hold of it and there was nothing I could do. I managed to save the white one though, I put her back in the cage and took it to my house cause the neighbor wasn't home.

Also, I got news that one of my aunts who's in the hospital isn't doing so well. We're all praying for her and hoping she makes a 360 to better health.

But I am looking forward to a more productive tomorrow and I'm so excited to get back to school on tuesday! Beat lab! ahhhh :D

Glitter & Glow! (Day 16)

Still sniffly. But! I did get up early today and went to my cousin's hair salon to get my hair straightened and my bangs cut. It felt good since I felt ike crap the day before and needed something to boost myself a bit :) I would've straightened it myself but my flat iron is broken :/

Also, I wanted to do something differently with it for tonight! I went to Glendale Glitter & Glow (aka the final night of glendale gitters) and was glad I at least didn't look like poo, though I felt a little crappy.

My sisters, mom and I drove to my aunts and walked with her and my tio to the park (parking is a total drag, go green!). Once we arrived, there was the immediate sound of the Buddy Holly tribute band playing live and after a quick stop to hear a couple songs, we continued to walk so we could meet up with my other tia. Before we could make it to her, we came across two men playing a tuba and an accordion it was so sweet!!

There were hot air balloons on every street and I could feel the heat on my neck and back as I walked past. I got a laugh out of the people who were caught off guard each time the flames were triggered! haha.

We kept walking and found a three-piece band playing some sweet tunes so we stuck around and it became our location for the night. :) My aunt found us and she treated us to Subway it was great :D I shared a sammy with the sis.

About an hour later I met up with some old friends I hadn't seen since high school! Adrian, Dee and Vianna. Sure it was only a year and a half ago but still a long time! I almost skipped out on coming tonight, but part of the reason I decided to go was so I could give them their christmas cards and Adrian's gift. We walked for a bit, but I had to head back to greet Carla and Ruben. Listening to the band, I'd almost forgotten to meet up with the pals again, but they snuck up behind me and spent about 15 more minutes with me before we all had to go.

I was ready to get home too since my allergies were getting to be such a pain! I'm surprised I lasted this long but I was ready to call it a night. As we all walked back toward my aunts house, my sisters and I decided to buy a banana and cinnamon malt shake from Lenny's downtown (my fave!). Yum! we made it to her house and went home.

Overall, I give tonight a B- lol. Hopefully I can see The Lovely Bones tomorrow! I've been waiting for soooo long!

It Sucks To Have The Sniffles. (Day 15)

Blehhhh. I've had alergies all day and my nose hasn't gotten a break! I woke up with a sore throat again and feel like my head's gonna blow the next time I sneeze. Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow! I've got a hair appointment in the morning and plans in the evening, so cross your fingers that I'll be up and at em when I wake up tomorrow!

That's all I have to report today.

Angela's Animal Haven (Day 14)

Do I have a sign on my house that says "Free Animal Care" or something? hahaha. Man! so apparently all of the neighborhood pets had a meeting and decided that my house is the place to be! Like it's some kind of haven for them to be cared for and looked after lol!

It started with the left side neighbor's dog (whom I named Sophie, Foofie for short).

They never paid any attention to her so I would feed her through the fence at night and gave her a nice bath one day when they weren't home. :)

After they moved, my right side neighbor's only cat (out of like 5 dogs), Pookie, started hanging out on our wall and in our yard lol.

She's very vocal and demands a ton of attention! She got used to my family and even spent Halloween at my house party! hah. I'm not a cat person at all, but this kitty is a special one :) I feed her everyday (she knows when to show up) and give her a dish of milk. Like I said, I'm not a cat person so the first time I fed her I had to give her some of Minnie's dog food LOLZ! surprisingly, she liked it! cat that eats dog food. baha. My aunt and uncle might be adopting her soon since my neighbor is looking for a home for her so hopefully they can take her! they love her already. :D

Now today, my front neighbor's chicks were roaming the sidewalk and waltzed over to my house all by themselves! I've seen them before and even saved their lives when the ghetto stray cat with no tail that lives somewhere in the neighborhood (who got in a fight with pookie recently) tried to eat them! I hate that cat and have scared it off 3 times already. Team Pookie! LOL!!

Anyway, they came over and my little sis and I grabbed some cheerios and crushed them to feed the little chicks and they ate every piece! I went back in for three more handfuls, I had no idea they could eat that much! ...or actually I did, since the sis has 2 chickens of her own. yeeeahh. But these little guys are super adorable and very trusting of us!

And check it out! the white one has feathers growing on her feet! lol aww. We got to pick them up and took them back to their home across the street when the neighbor got back. They visited again in the evening when I went to take out the trash. They run so funny! Pookie was on the wall when they came and I could sense a hint of jealousy! rofl, she won't hurt them though, she's actually kind of scared. haha. So these chicks are the newest of my "pets", lol gawd.

I won't be shocked when the duck from around the corner shows up at my doorstep.

500 Days of Summer. (day 13)

Hola! How do you do? :)

I watched (500) Days of Summer today and loved it!

It isn't really a love story, but a boy-meets-girl story for sure. Either way I really enjoyed it and even more since my nerd crush Matthew Gray Gubler of Criminal Minds was in it ~.^ and oh my, Zooey Deschanel is so adorable! I may very well have a girl crush on her lol! She's so cute. I definitely recommend this one if you haven't seen it.

Going to watch The Proposal after dinner with the fam, hah it should be a riot!

I also went shopping with my mom this evening. She got a few things and I tried on some stuff. I did find part 2 of Roxy' gift though! gonna mail it this weekend i'm excited cause I know she'll love it.

Ace Of Bakes. (Day 12)

Woke up in a rush this morning! I had to bake another carrot cake for my mom's co-workers.

These cakes have been a hit so far! lol I'm glad everyone's liking them :)

Today was pretty calm. Both my sisters stayed home from school and work (not feeling well). I went to drop the cake off and run some errands then played some video games and had albondigas for dinner, yoomi!. Oh and on my way to pick up my mom from work, I took this. :)

Just Shoot Me. (Day 11)

Snappity Snap Snap. Did a photoshoot with Ash today. She was the model and I was the so-called photographer hahah, I wasn't on my game today! I feel kinda bad cause I know I don't suck with a camera but for some reason I couldn't manage to get on the ball. I did get a few good shots which I'm happy about, but hope I didn't waste anyone's time! The theme was "Dia De Los Muertos" and I brought a few props to use.

We took the pictures in her back yard, but I think part of the reason I was having trouble concentrating was because of all the hubub!! Traffic on one side of the wall, kids playing on another, birds singing at the top of their lungs in a nearby tree, and a bit of pressure coming from shooting someone who knows what they want out of the photo and me being mediocre at delivering! haha. I'm a sound girl! I handle a different realm of the senses rofl.

At least I helped! I didn't mind that at all, always there for her of course. Maybe with some editing and fine-tuning...fine-tuning, there I go again talking my sound talk, "polishing" the photos, they'll look even better. But the make up looked nice! that's an upside lol. Even though i'm sure it was a pain to add and remove. Here's one of the more successful shots.

lol. Anyway, I took the little sis to the doc's this morning and spent some time playing video games with her, and laughing real hard....yeah...tony hawk's game. LOL. Then for dinner I had tuna and salad and watched Ice Age 3 with the fam. cute movie! and totally funny. Totes M'gotes. :)

Lazy Sunday (Day 10)

Woke up at 10 this morning with plans to go have breakfast at tiffany's..haha I mean IHOP. However, my dad's friend came over with souvenirs from his trip to mexico and it took some time so we decided to grab lunch from Hilbertos instead. Yummy! we all shared everything and had a priceless conversation afterwards hahah I'd discuss it but it's kinda insane (If you wanna know that bad, ask me.)

I played some more of the Tony Hawk game we bought yesterday and like last night, laughed so hard. I did some laundry and went to dry them a few hours ago. Luckily we were the only one's there! it was so nice and quiet. That's never happened as long as I've been going there which is like a month lol. Took out the trash also, and while I was doing so, took in a good view of the clouds reflecting the sunset! Of course I ran inside and grabbed my phone to take a photo for Roxy (we're sunset sisters haha) to see and also to show you!

:). Speaking of Roxy, it's her 19th birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope she had a fabulous one. I have no doubts, since she kept me updated on the awesome activities going on! glad it didn't disappoint :D

I also watched Man On Fire with maria. It was intense but entertaining! we had cereal for dinner in my room and after it was over I decided to update this thingie and isten to pandora as I type. :)

This weekend was very energetic and full of smiles. I'm glad, hope yours was amazing as well.

Today is my mom's birthday and boy was it a fun time! My sister's and I got the family together and took her to the movies this morning to watch It's Complicated at Westgate's AMC. What a hilarious movie!! we all loved it and the 9 of us couldn't stop laughing the whole time. Ruben came and saw it with us even if Carla couldn't make it til lunch afterwards, I thought that was nice of him! He enjoyed it too. After the movie finished we walked out and my little sis and I noticed a box full of 3d glasses from the Avatar movie and decided to snag a pair! hahaha (don't worry I cleaned them when I got home). I wouldn'tve taken one if they didn't look cool, but these glasses are like Ray Bans! lol



We headed home for a sec so I could frost the carrot cake I made for my mom and pick my dad up to take him with us to lunch! We met back up with the fam at Pei Wei (my favorite restaurant) and ordered practically the whole menu and shared with each other lol! It was a bit stressful for a while since there are so many of us and my tias are so demanding and loud lol. We sang to my mom and cut the cake (which was real yummy!) and drank coffee one of my tias made.

While there was a brief moment of quiet, my tia Josie (coffee lady lol) made a quick speech to say happy birthday to my mom and to say how proud she was of us for being such good girls and good daughters to our parents and for being so ambitious, studious, and sweet. I thought that was real nice of her to acknowledge us on that, but we felt a little shy! haha. A lot of people notice that about us, but maybe we're just boring? lol! jk. We're good kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :) I'm proud of who I am and who I'm becoming.

Anyway, mushiness aside, lunch was great! awesome food and a lot of fun. Later on in the evening my sisters and I made a quick trip to gamestop and bought a Tony Hawk game (always fun!) and rented movies from Blockbuster. We laughed up a storm at the game cause we were being so ridiculous and clumsy!

My mom went out dancing with my tia Josie and now I'm getting ready for bed. It's been a long day! I've got one more birthday girl to wish a good one to tomorrow! Roxy's turning 19! yay, you go girlie! haha she's celebrating tonight as well. Hope you had a fun one chica! <3

Miss Mix-A-Lot! (Day 8)

Hey guys! So I woke up pretty early today, but I didn't mind it cause I woke up to the sound of Lady Gaga blasting in the living room haha. Ooohlala. I hadn't gotten up so quick in a long time, I was literally dancing out of bed! rofl. Anywho, I made some calls to my Aunts about my mom's birthday get together this weekend and picked up the little sis from school early since she was feeling sick. boo. I made her some noodles and had her take a long nap.

On a lighter note, I was still in a dancey kind of mood so I decided to make some mixes! I threw a few songs together that would get me going and want to share them with you! hopefuly they'll get'cha pumped for the day, or the weekend!

Lawn-Droe-Mat. (Day 7)

Dried some clothes today. Yea, my dryer is still broken :/ ah well, trips to the laundromat are always relaxing haha. I went to my tia's house before to pick up some carrots (lol) and went to get the little sis from school before heading over to dry. I slept in today (kinda), showered, and tried working on my song, but didn't get very far with the lyrics. It was a pretty chill day over all. Gonna have tuna tostadas for dinner which I'm excited about cause they're soo good and fresh! maybe I'll have a carrot or two. :p Hope your day was good!

Decisions Decisions! (Day 6)

I've been thinking. I really want a tatoo! I'm ready for one, but the problem is that I have to choose between three that I really want as my 1st tattoo. Here are my choices:




Treble and Bass clef heart. I've wanted this one for a year now, and if I do get it as my first tat, I'd like it on the part of my back where my neck ends.

I also really want a wrist tattoo, with one of these words on it. I'm having a hard time deciding which one, since they all mean a lot to me. I have more of a pull toward faith though, seeing as how I have my whole life ahead of me and I have a lot of faith that I'll make something great of myself! also, faith toward God, since he's always taking care of me. I'm not religious, but I am spiritual and I do believe and have faith.

The last choice is four measures of my favorite Yanni song "Reflections of Passion". I grew up listening to his music through my dad, and this one really pulled at my heartstrings :) I'd like the melody line to start on my left wrist and continue on my right, adding a repeat sign to start the phrase over. Today is the 5th day of the year, but only my 2nd photo. ah well. I went to Ross today and decided to spend some money on myself, since lunch with my mom didn't go as planned lol. I decided I should use the money on some much needed clothes rather than food so I bought these! A nice brown jacket, colorful top and a purple tank for my sis (not pictured) Excited to wear these!

Hey there!
Happy New Year first of all! I haven't been on to post in a while, and though I wanted to real bad, the xbox my little sis got for christmas didn't allow me to. haha. I had so much to say! I was gonna write a blog about my year in 2009, but decided it's kinda over with now so i'll start fresh for this year. In a nutshell, my 2009 was all about going to shows with my best friend and hanging out with my sisters, making our bond even stronger. I also became closer with my cousin Carla who introduced us to her boyfriend Ruben, a really cool and sweet guy whom I'm very glad is a part of our family now. AND I met some great new friends who live out of state, thanks to, once again, music! Roxy (FL) and Taryn (NM) are both such great girls and I'm very fortunate to have gotten to know them this past year. I look forward to meeting them soon! Also, I became more of a serious musician, taking more time to practice than I did in 2008 and worked on my songwriting.


This year, I definitely want to push myself further musically and really take hold of my talents and share them more with the ones I love, and even people I'm just meeting! I want to be able to write more songs in less time, since last year I had a major writer's block I couldn't seem to get around. I hope for inspiration this year and good health!


in other news, I'm writing now because my good friend Roxy started a project 365 in which she takes a daily photo and posts it on her blog to document her entire 2010 year. She's encouraging me to start one also, which I'm thrilled at the idea of, but am not sure I can keep up with it and post everyday! haha. I do take photos pretty much everyday, so Maybe I'll give it a shot. And if I fail at it, I'll still write blogs like these to keep this updated! I'm a writer, what do you expect :p
