Blowing Away! (Day 102)

So windy! Spring is definitely here, and the pollen be flying!

I've got to try not to let my allergies get the best of me, so I'm staying indoors.

I spoke with CJ and Thom today and let them know I have my new capo now! yay! I set up a time to record at cjs tomorrow. Let's hope all works out!

Nerves. (Day 101)

Hi my name is Nelly, Nervous Nelly.

Ahh I've been so jumpy lately! I don't know what's up with myself, seriously. I've been really nervous and I think finals are getting to me lol >.< I know I have time, but still!

Just gotta keep working on them. keep on truckin.

April 10th-Blah. (Day 100)

I pretty much spent the entire day lounging at home doing nothing haha. Vicky spent the whole day with our friends and went to a bbq in the evening.

I practiced guitar and worked on the song, making time to look up a song CJ suggested I hear in case I were to help him on a project for school. Turns out, he's into ska! pretty awesome.

Maria and I went to guitar center so I could finally get a new capo, woo! Michael's was in the same plaza so we stopped by and I bought a cute Nintendo Star tin filled with little candy stars!

We had planned on seeing Lights in concert tonight for a reeeeeallly long time, and even had tickets bought and ready to go, but it was just one of those days where we didn't feel like going to overly populated places lol. So we skipped it. Plus, it was at Marquee, a really sketchy/lame venue so that added to the reasons not to go.

Instead, we went to pick vicky up in the evening and stayed watching Drillbit Taylor. When we got home, ashley came over and we ended up having a jam session in my room, lol I taught her the bass part to the song I'm working on.

April 9th- Hang outs! (Day 99)

This evening I went to dinner with my sisters and some friends of ours. We had originally planned to go to Olive Garden, but it was ridiculously packed so we skipped it and went to Culver's instead.

I'd never eaten there before, but let me tell you their food is amazing!! I totally rate it higher than In N Out. Seriously.

We went to Goodwill afterwards in search of random tea cups for maria's grad party and were pretty successful! There was a car show going on outside and I took a picture of a really cute Betty Boop themed car. :)

We spent some time at our friend's house chillin and went home, leaving vicky to have a sleepover with Miette :)

Session! (Day 98)

I've been having trouble recording guitar in class since it kept distorting on me upon hook-up so an aquaintance/friend of mine offered to record me at his place and I learned that the problem was that the battery on it was dead. Ha.

I got a replacement battery, but since my capo is still missing, the buzz on it was still pretty audible because I made a capo out of a pencil and rubber bands. womp.

Anyway I had fun and the guy who's place I was recording at (CJ) made some tea so that was nice.

I'm definitely gonna have to get a capo this weekend. -.-

Fun! (Day 97)

Class was good today, I worked on some piano part for a guy who asked me to compose something for his song (one of the final requirements is to collab) and also had trouble concentrating because the guys, specifically Thom and CJ, were being silly, which in turn made me laugh. ha.

After class I watched the room for about 10 minutes until the intern came back and talked with Thom, CJ, and Alex about our projects. When they asked me what I was working on, I told them I was covering a song and of course they asked to hear me play and sing it, which immediately froze me over lol. I didn't go through with it because A) my "capo" sucks, and B) Hell no! I can't even record with another person in the room! haha.

However, I scheduled a recording date for the main studio tomorrow, and I think that should help me a lot since I'd be in a more private environment, and if I were to record vocals then, I'd be more comfortable.

I was too late for the MEChA meeting, but I still met with the members of the club outside the SU. The International Festival was being held there and a latin group was playing so we danced and had a good time! My mom joined us on her lunch break, and we bought some cool bracelets from the jamaican booth. :)

Damned If I Do, Damned If I Don't! (Day 96)

Ahh, I hate my shyness sometimes! I had the perfect opportunity to track, but even though there were only 2 people in the lab, I couldn't bring myself to strum. Why???

I guess it doesn't matter anyway cause the guitar is still crapping out on me when I play for more than 5 minutes. It's not my cable, that's for sure.

Fail. (Day 95)

Again, I haven't found my capo yet, so I'm suffering with my home made one haha. I used a pencil and a shitload of rubber bands, but no mater what, it's still sounding flat. Ughhhh. When am I gonna get to track? there's only so much time left!

Happy Easter! (Day 94)

Happy Bunny Day! haha,

or happy eat-what-you-want-that-you-couldn't-have-for-two-months-day!
orr Happy Jesus returns day! rofl.

Whatever you make of it, I hope you enjoy. I'll be going to the movies this morning and heading over to my aunt's for lunch later. Have a good one! peace.

April 3rd. (Day 93)

I stayed over at my aunt's last night to take care of her and since today was her birthday, my family and I took her out for breakfast at IHOP. yum!

While we were there, we noticed a family sitting nearby had a son who looked like Embry from New Moon! haha talk about nerd status! check it out.

Breakfast was delicious. Later on, the girls and I went to Kinkos to make Maria's graduation party invitations and they turned out super cute!

Easter is tomorrow and I'll finally get to have sweets again!
Hallelujah!

MASSIVE POST. (Days 87-92)

I've gotten behind in posting lately, I'm about two weeks behind. so basically the week of March 29th to the friday of that week (April 2nd) consisted of me trying to focus on both the Cesar Chavez event and my final projects.

On Tuesday that week I went to various stores with Jhannyn and picked up groceries for the event. I was exhausted, and got real tan lol.

Wednesday was the event at school and it was a successful celebration! we had food and drinks and guest speakers join us.

The rest of the week kind of sucked and involved a lot of me b-essing my assignments. whoops.

That was about it for that week haha.

Saturday Soaps! (Day 86)

Nope, not soaps as in soap operas (ew) but real soaps!

Maria bought some glycerin and scented oils and mouldes to make some soap so we did and it was quite relaxing! they smell great and it was a fun process. Maria's been real crafty lately.

Womp. Womp. (Day 85)

So I tried recording today, only to find that my capo was missing and couldn't record guitar. It sucked. Now I have to look for it, and if i don't find it I'll have to get a new one. Maybe I'll make my own...

Drum It Up! (Day 84)

I had a nice percussion performance this evening in the courtyard of the campus and played a few songs for about an hour and a half. It was very casual and comfortable. We performed, and on the songs I wasn't on, I went and grabbed some pizza that was being served for free by Student Life. awesome right? it was nice. A lot of people showed up (hello, free food and music, what's better than dinner and a show? haha) and I saw a few friends who came to watch. It was a nice time. :)

oh and earlier I tried recording some guitar, but it started to distort so I had to cancel.
